.:: ON THIS DAY ::. - Tony Hawk X-Games 900

Today marks the anniversary of the first time Tony Hawk executed the world's first successful 900, which was witnessed at the 1999 X-Games!

Many skaters had attempted the legendary 900, but until Tony all had failed the feat. Even since the trick was performed, there have only ever been 9 other skaters in the world to have landed it.

Hawk has since gone on to perform the trick 15 times, the final time being at the age of 48, when he vowed to never attempt it again.

In 2012, Tom Schaar completed a 1080 at the age of 12 on the MegaRamp, surpassing Hawk's record of the most areal spins, and to top it he's also landed the 900 twice. As impressive as Tom Schaar's efforts were though, he did perform them on the MegaRamp, which allowed for far more air-time - whereas 11 year old Brazillian rad dude Gui Khury managed to perform the same feat on a regular vertical ramp this very year in May, stating that due to the lockdown he'd had the time to perfect the trick without being bogged down with lame-ass school work.

We hope you have enjoyed this nugget of skateboard-related media on this most joyous day of skateboarding history.
