.:: ON THIS DAY ::. - TGI Fridays

Today is a day for celebration, folks. For historically, on the 15th March 1965, the doors to the very first TGI Fridays were opened to the public.

If you haven't visited a TGIs before in your life, then you really have to ask yourself - am I really getting the most out of life, and did my parents truly love me as a child?

TGIs was originally opened by a dude called Alan Stillman, who opened it with the intentions of meeting single ladies to score with, which should be respected as an incredibly intricate and complex method of meeting women. It shot off in popularity as one of the first "singles bars", since its opening coincided quite nicely with the launch of the birth control pill. Truly, the planets had aligned for Stillman and his libido.

Several years later TGIs began to become synonymous with family dining, and with this new angle TGIs became a world first for 'tato skins, frozen cocktails, an almost entirely from scratch menu, and "Bartender Olympics", an event where bartenders the world over compete to mix cocktails with outstanding drink flipping and throwing skills.

Today, TGIs continues to make some pretty boss-ass foods and cocktails, and is recognisable for all the cool shit stuck to the walls in its many locations. Some sites even have large TVs playing looped videos of monster trucks, skateboarding, and bartender Olympics footage.

Today then, is a very good reason to be thankful that it is Friday.
