You thought TGIs was the only big name food franchise launched in March? Well you're wrong, because on this date in 1962, a whole three years before TGIs, the world was blessed by the very first Taco Bell in Downey, California.
Taco Bell is a huge deal stateside, however lucky folk in the UK as well as other parts of the world such as Thailand, India, Spain, and many more can now join in on the action as the franchise aims for global domination.
As well as offering some of the greatest menu options every to grace the Earth, such as the Dorito shell taco, Nacho Fries, Baja Blast, and the Breakfast Crunchwrap Supreme, Taco Bell are also fondly honoured for their promotional campaigns. Most notably they towed a large target into the Pacific Ocean in 2001, claiming if the target was hit by falling debris from the Mir Space Station, everybody in the US were entitled to a free taco.
Nothing hit it.
They also briefly released a bunch of limited Taco Bell merch, which included a Taco Bell bike, and for a while offered Taco Bell printed Xbox Ones, which made the Taco Bell dong sound when booting it up. Best of all though, last year saw the first opening of a Taco Bell hotel, which was nothing short of incredible.
As TTWAAR is a UK-based outlets of factlets, we feel compelled to inform our UK readers that there are at the time of writing 37 Taco Bell locations open to you, so I must strongly urge that you seeketh them out, and partake in a little Taco tastin'.
