Boy, we got a good one for you today. Today is the birthday of fitness extraordinaire Richard Simmons, who was born in the year of our Lord 1948!
Richard Simmons is a fantastic case study of radness that's a little off the beaten track - he's a dude who just radiates a certain style of rad that we cannot even begin to understand nor emulate.
Following the success of his exercise studio "Slimmons", Richard found himself at the centre of 80s pop culture due to his various media appearances, where he was commonly seen in his striped tank tops (of which is encrusted in Swarovski crystals), usually leading an aerobics session or attempting to rope celebrities into the magic. Mind that super energetic dude who used to show up on Who's Line is it Anyway from time to time? That's Simmons, baby.
Simmons is not just rad for his eccentric dress sense and personality however, he's also rad because he's really, really fuckin' good at what he loves - encouraging people to not be lazy sacks of crap. (Saaaack?!)
It is estimated that Simmons has helped humanity to shed a whopping 5.5 million kg of weight during his 35 year career, and he hosted his own Emmy-winning show, The Richard Simmons Show, where he talked about things of which are also healthy.
Sadly Richard Simmons has stepped away from the public eye in recent years, which is a damn shame because who doesn't want to see this guy bust his moves in that intensely camp Simmons style?
Come on back Richard Simmons, O God of aerobics instructional videos, only you can save us from our lazy, lazy selves.
