May is knocking out the rad birthdays, so allow us to detail the birthday of yet another individual of rad magnitude - Ellen O'Neal!
Ellen O'Neal is considered the godmother of female skateboarding, and was considered one of the best female freestyle skateboarders of all time, gaining huge popularity in the 70s. Ellen had only been skating for a year when she was offered sponsorships by Gordon & Smith, Bennett Trucks, and Vans, and she was one of the first skaters to bring the sport into the mainstream when she appeared on a 1978 episode of Wonder Woman, called Skateboard Wiz. These feats, as well as an acting role in the '78 film Skateboard led to Ellen being inducted into the skateboarding hall of fame in 2014.
So is Ellen still skateboarding now? Probably not, seeing as she is now very busy working as a senior executive recruiter at TEEMA Solutions Group in San Diego. Are senior executive recruiters rad? Their job title sure sounds boring, but regardless of the evidence against them, we must remember that skating is rad and Ellen is therefore rad. Then due to her holding the title of senior executive recruiter, we can assume that senior executive recruiters can in fact be considered rad in extreme cases.
Happy birthday, Ellen.
