On this day in television history, Brass Eye aired it's first episode - Animals, on 29th January 1997.
Why was Brass Eye so rad? Because creator Chris Morris was able to dupe multiple celebrities into saying any old shite he put in front of them, proving to audiences across the country that you probably shouldn't believe important scientific "facts" when they're being presented to you by Gary Lineker, Noel Edmonds, and especially, Rolf Harris.
Brass Eye also snaps up some additional rad points for the "Paedogeddon!" special, which upset many hard-working, wholesome British folk. It especially upset The Daily Star, who didn't see the irony in printing a slam article on the special opposite an article about the then 15-year-old Charlotte Church's breasts.
Brass Eye, thank you for showing us how shit British sensationalist media truly is. God speed.
