.:: ON THIS DAY ::. - Beavis and Butthead

Believe it or not, everyone's favourite snickering idiots Beavis and Butt-Head first hit television on this day back in 1993.

It had it's fair share of controversy back when it aired, such as an infamous incident seven months after its inception in which a mother claimed her son burnt down their mobile home in Ohio after witnessing Beavis' obsession with fire in the early episodes, despite the fact the family had no access to cable television so had no way of viewing the show.

Further criticism came from people viewing it as crass and juvenile TV with no real positive contribution to society, seemingly missing the point that this was exactly the kind've behaviour the show was poking fun at and openly mocking. Beavis and Butthead (or Buffcoat and Beaver to then democratic senator Fritz Hollings in 1994) were not positive role models, in fact they were not role models in any sense. That was their deal, they were just two dumb Gen X kids who just wanted to score and watch music videos.

Luckily for everyone, Beavis and Butthead are now more lovingly cherished for their irreverent approach to 90s culture and society, and were subsequently much better received during their revival in 2011.

Nyeh, heh heh heh, that's cool.
