So on this day back in 1994 The Silence of the Hams was released in Italy (lucky them..well see how you feel after vewing it) us lovely folks in the UK had to wait until August 1996 and it was a killer! (Ya see what I did?) Ok maybe not.... Anyways moving on.
So as you would imagine with a title as such and a pretty obvious poster to acompany it, it really is not that hard to work out what you are in for when viewing this film. Thats right a psychological horror-thriller..(wait a minute, wrong post). Here we have another one of those typical spoof films you hate to admit you kinda enjoy watching.
So Rookie FBI Agent, Jo Dee Fostar (yes you did read it correctly, subtle eh?) played by Billy Zane has been assigned to work on the latest Psycho Killer case. But in order to catch the Killer he must team up with a Killer. Off Jo goes to meet Dr. Animal Cannibal Pizza (Dom DeLuise) a once famous Doctor turned cannibal who ate pizzas with human body parts. All the while Jo's girlfriend has just stolen $400,000 in cash from her Boss Mr. Laurel (Rip Taylor), so she and Jo can live the best life possible and be happy, but in the end she gets lost in a bad storm (caused mostly by a special effects crew behind her car) and stops at the Cemetery Motel, where the owner, Antonio Motel (Ezio Greggio), is dominated by his insane mother ('Shelly Winters)..Well I wonder what that could be mocking?
Well I will be honest with you guys, the film itself is one that you watch and think, this is awful, but on the other hand you find yourself laughing at the not so subtle humour within, all the usual stuff you find in spoof films are here in full glory. For me this Film falls under the its so bad its kinda good category. This by no means is a full blown review or critique on the film, more of a, just putting this out there kinda thing. I would certainly advise checking this out just for fun, why the hell not? Grab yourself a drink (probably best and more funnier to watch when not sober) and add this to the list of seen crap !
